Fitting In 96 SS Floor Shifter Console
With Roadmaster Seats its not aplicable for me to have a floor shifter. So today I decided to fix that  Not knowing how much of a bitch it is to remove a Roadmaster console I was not prepared with the right tools.

Being halfway through the mod there was no turning back. Basicaly I did this with a hammer  and brute strength

After putting the seat back I started cutting into the floor rubber carpet

Then added the console. Everything fits fine now I just have to bolt everything down but I have a few questions. What size bolts do I use to bolt in the floor plate or can you only weld it? How about adhesive if you cant bolt it? Do you do this over the carpet or on straite metal and tuck the carpet in? I'm sure if the bracket gets welded it goes straite to metal.

I'd try a dealer.
It'll cost a little more, but something like that, You want to be sure of the right part.
I've battled with the shift cable on my wife's car, unless it's right it's a real pain.

Take that linkage off and put some bends in it. First drill the proper size hole towards the end of that tab. Bend it in the directions the arrow in the pic I attached points. That should get you to clear the pan rail for the bolt. It may take some heat and a well mounted vise to do all this.
You're resourceful enough to fix it if you break it beyond salvage. Buts its tough metal you shouldnt be able to make the car undriveable without lots of misplaced effort.

Ree i figured I'd bring this thread back to life because I have decided I want to eliminate the middle section of my Roadmaster seats also. Did you just get under there and start banging away at the frame? I'm thinking I could use a little electric saw to cut out the uneeded portion. Did you do anything with the leather left over that's connected to the driver seat or did you just tuck it in between the seat and console?
