So what time is good for whom? Can we set it up this Saturday, or Sunday?

MrSag
08-06-03, 13:22
Saturday is a no-no. Sunday afternoon's fine.

Ree9c1
08-06-03, 13:25
I'm down for sunday, all my mods should be here by the 24th but just incase how about the 31st?

MrSag
08-06-03, 13:50
31st is also a no-no:) I'll be in Harrisburg August 30th - September 1st.

DR2000
08-06-03, 15:32
I was thinking this weekend. August 10th. I'll probably be doing something anyhow. Console install, and cluster install - with Feliks' help.

The next 2 weekend I'll probably be gone - camping and Atlantic City maybe. I don't know yet.

Ree9c1
08-07-03, 01:46
How about sept. 7?

MrSag
08-07-03, 11:12
Fine with me.

DR2000
08-07-03, 11:38
Yeah, Sept 7th sounds good at this point for me too. However if I die before that or something of that nature, I will not be able to attend.

What location are you meeting at?

DR2000
08-07-03, 12:39
We have to decide on location yet. We used to meet at Caesar's Bay, but now with the Best Buy there it's going to be harder. Maybe Floyd Bennetts Field is our next option.

Here's our usual location:

DR2000
08-07-03, 13:34
Hehe, yeah, something like that. I was banned a LONG time ago, so they forgot long ago about that. LM13 got his ban much later, but a very long time ago too. I'm sure they have forgotten. The guy who banned us is not alive anymore probably anyhow (it did happen a long time ago). :)

08-07-03, 13:34
i think floyd bennet field is our best bet... i go there often with other cars and there were no complaints.

Ree9c1
08-07-03, 14:12
Oh joy:blob:! The DC guys are coming too! Oh yeah, we'll have some fun. Does floyd bennett feild have a picnic area? Maybe we can bring some burgers and hot dogs

xr72z
08-07-03, 14:19
floyd bennet field is basically an old airport strip. there are plenty of spots were dozens of cars can assemble. i have never seen anyone bbq'ing. i dont even know if you are allowed to bring a bbq and fire it up. maybe someone else knows.

Yeah DC is coming! I am hoping we can get 10 Caprices together. When you say you have been there with other cars. How many cars did that include? I only ask if it is like 5 cars just coming to relax and hangout then hey who cares. If 30+ Car show then you have a real crowd and it might cause some trouble. I know there are some parks that don't care. Just questions and concerns that I thought I should bring up. Well hopefully I can give yall exact DC numbers by the first.

9c1Lovr76
08-07-03, 14:30
I retract my statement since it was addressed before I posted:redeyes: Out of curousity will there be any racing on this strip or is this just a NON speed social event?

xr72z
08-07-03, 14:34
9c1Lovr76 ... the most cars that i have gathered there was probably a dozen

i dont know if the park would mind 30+ cars gathering. this is a layout of the area, there are many spots available.

Floyd Bennet Field (http://www.floydbennett.com/bennettmap.pdf)

anyone else think 30+ cars would be a problem in FBF?

9c1Lovr76
08-07-03, 14:37
I might even bring a couple of my RC Cars up there. I see there is a spot for them. I like the layout.

DR2000
08-07-03, 14:39
I don't think we'll hit anywhere near 30. And even if we did I don't think there will be a problem. The airport is pretty big, with LOTS of space.

P.S. No speeding allowed. The speed limit is 25 there. Remember we mentioned that we got banned 2 times? ;)

9c1Lovr76
08-07-03, 14:41
I will not exceed that set lawful speed limit.

MrSag
08-07-03, 14:52
Yeah... 30+ people will not cause any problems whatsoever. Racing and burning donuts, however, will. I doubt they allow bbq there, but we can double-check. The problem with Floyd Bennet is that if you want to eat, your only two options would be to either catch some fish or cannibalize, whereas in Caesar's Bay Plaza you can point in any direction and that'll lead you to food.

uuhh
ii doubt that you'd be able to do that much speeding considering the fact that you'lll be driving during the day. those nj troopers are good.
they fucken busted my ass once. i never showed up there since :).
as far as bbq goes i think it is allowed on FBF(as long as we bring out own bbq machine things, btw we don't really need an open flame, does anyone still have the 180 degree tstat? :D).
and we'll see about the burnouts. but i doubt they'd let us do donuts tho.

Either place is good on the 7th. BTW, at Floyd Bennet there is a guy with a roach coach that comes around about Noon and Two. He usually has fresh pizzas in addition to the usual crap. I'm at FBF on Sundays anyway, so that's my preference. On the 14th of Sept there will be a classic car show there and an electric train setup in the Ryan Visitor Center. The R/C cars are allways there, as are the R/C planes including some jets, it's SICK! The hangar over by the blimp station is also chock full of antique aircraft in various states of repair. A cool place even without being able to speed at will.

I hate the turnpike those Vultures always lurking. You know the B-body always get there attention DLPriest might get there before me cause I am on strict cruise mode. Where ever you hold it is cool with me. I might even bring up my RC cars. I only have like Nikko type RC's though. As far as food if it is everyone coming bring a little something thats cool. Or if the Chuck Wagon is going to be there thats fine too. Hell we could hit Popeyes and pick up a couple of buckets of chicken some few cases of soda and party.

Hells yeah. Last time I was there I witnessed a jet perform a crash landing not too far away from where I was parked. As a note, watch for traffic from all three dimensions while on the field:) Those jets are sick. They literally fly circles around the rest of the planes.

we should really set a date and time, and make the whole thing legit. i called the place up, there is even a slight chance that we can make a burn out competition. i would get there a bit earlier tho, if you guys want to make it a mod day.
and it will cost us about 75 bucks. for the whole thing. to make it an official even.

I'm in, and I'll even make a donation. You spoke to the parkies, eh? I'm all for getting there early. Let's see...I'll have my new EGR setup, rear springs, shocks all around, an A/C drain elbow and some tubing, plus I already have in my hot little hands: BMR rear LCA's, airpump delete sticker and caps for the manifolds. Bwaaaaahahaha! I'll be lucky get one or two of those things done that day. :p
I'll even get the old fogies from the railroad club to come outside and see what these cars are supposed to look like. My heap will make your cars look even better!
This better happen, I'm getting psyched!

Ree9c1
08-14-03, 13:59
yeah, Lets make it official. I'll either donate or bring burgers or something. I want to make it a mod day because I can use a lot of help with mods. I have a garage full of mods but between, the rain, lack of knowledge, and my busy cop schedule I havnt been able to start some of them.
We should also make a list of things like tools, supplies, food, etc.
I know some of you wanted to copy my trunk plans so you'll need wood or card board.

xr72z
08-14-03, 14:24
definately would like to copy your trunk templates Ree9c1. ill bring some cardboard

9c1Lovr76

Damn! I wish I wasn't so far away... it sounds like you all are going to have fun.
Oddly enough, I will be 1,000 miles northeast of here (Knoxville) around that time
-I just wouldn't be able to make the other 1,000 to NYC.

Just one question:perform a crash landing
  :upset: :freak: :xeyes:

I guess you could trace the patterns with cardboard and buy the wood and carpet at home? Keep in mind our trunks are big so you'll need a lot of cardboard. I am moving sept. 1st, maybe I'll have a lot of left over boxes, I'll bring some.

6,*Possibly stereo equipment
7, Intrax 2 inch drop springs

If you haven't relocated your wiring yet, you'll need a fuel line removal tool. Also if you want to reroute the hose you'll need a thing which goes into your egine in smaller size. The thing might be called a nozzle or something, I forget.

ST and Sprint springs are very low (2.5+ drop). Intrax drop is closer to Hotckis.

I beleive you can trace all patterns with cardboard so when you get home you can place em over wood and saw it? My cat eye grill came with instruction on how to install a billet grille. I havnt installed my grill yet either. It says to cut the inside out of the original grille, I have a Dremel.

Thats informative, I did not know. So if we wanted a compresser and air tools they would lend it? I'm sure we'll be alright? The only thing I can think of that I dont have and we'll need is a jigsaw, jack stands and a cordless drill. If everyone brings there junk in the trunk tools and supplies we'll be fine.

DR2000, I was at FBF this Sun and picked up the forms. It's $25 if we don't do anything commercial. Paper has to be in by this weekend. You want I should try to pursue this? If I get the 9C1 rolling by the end of the week I'll be there on Sat to see the R/C helicopter meet. I'll also have to pick a spot. Any preferences? I'm thinking of one of the big lots near the Ryan Center and the R/C cars. Easy access to pissers and water. Or maybe out by Hangar B, where they moor the Fuji blimp and stash all the wrecked boats. These spots also have prety good condition roadway.

Good thinking. Is it $25 for the whole bunch, or per person? What does it cover? Barbecue? Burnouts? Also, who did you speak to? And where did you find them?
I was there on Sunday, and saw a jet-powered RC helicopter do some aerobatics. That thing could outrun the piston engine planes like nothing. I was surprised at how close the helicopter was to the controller when he "doggie walked" it. A couple more inches, and the guy would've been split in 2... or 3.

DR2000
08-26-03, 12:27
I'm still no clear on what that will give us as opposed to just showing up there.

About the location, if you could do a good write up on how to get to that exact spot that you pick, it'd be good. Since the airfield is pretty big, people might get lost.

reverendstu
08-26-03, 19:35
Damn auto logout! Lets try this again.
It's 25 bucks for the permit, no biggie, just help me with my clueless mod Q's. This just means if it gets big we won't be hassled by the Fed Parkies. Kind of a show of respect too. They seem to try to be invisible and really easy going but when someone takes advantage of this, well, that pisses them off. I forgot to ask about the BBQ and burnouts, I was preoccupied wondering if 1st and 2nd gear would last till I got home. :D
I missed the helicopter, but I did finally get to see that huge twin turbine Russian fighter jet scream around some. Awesome!
Laters, gotta run!

Exit 11s off Belt Parkway, onto Flatbush Avenue south. Right before the toll booths at the end, turn left onto Aviation Road. There's a big brown sign there, you won't miss it.

reverendstu
08-30-03, 16:30
OK, I talked to Jenn at FBF, she's pretty much in charge out there.
Good news: I can reserve us a good level spot next to a lawn with picnic tables, near water and sh1tters. Working on the cars is fine if we clean up.
Bad news: No burnouts, donuts, BBQ's, fluid changes.
If it's only a few cars, we can set up anywhere, but if it turns out to be popular, then we should go legal. It's an easy application, quick approval, so I can wait till Mon or Tues to nail it down.

Soo...administrator guys, any alternatives? Know any place where some smoke and noise would go un-noticed? How 'bout that little beach between Sheapshead Bay and Flatbush on the Belt, or some forgotten street? Let me know what's happening.
Gotta go, it's beer O'clock.

I'll try to get there about 10ish to start the air pump delete, But I think DR2000 mentioned Noon.
I'll try directions, hehehe. I don't know if there is an actual address. I'm not really sure of the NJTP exit #.
NJ Turnpike to exit 11, to the Outerbridge Crossing, follow signs for West shore expwy, Verrazano Bridge. Go over the bridge. Grab the Belt Parkway towards Kennedy Airpoprt. Get off exit 11s, go towards the Marine Parkway Bridge. When the median ends, just before the bridge, make a left and enter Floyd Bennet Field. Go through the gate house and make a left at the first road. Go almost to the end, past the control tower, and make a left towards the last hangars. There you'll see a picnic area and that's the place I've been working on.
I haven't read anything different, so it looks like that's going to be the place.
Maybe someone will see this and post better directions out of disgust, LOL!!

Alright... I just got back from the Funtastik Footbag Tournament. Gotta get some sleep, and then next weekend -- the meet. For those of you who have no or little clue what footbag is, I will try to explain on Sunday. And for those of you who like my explanation (:)), I bought a buttload of Mr. Sandbag footbags at the tournament, and will have them for sale, 10 bucks a piece. Cya there!

Ahh, a kindred spirit! No wonder you and I have long hair;) Yeah, a long time ago, they used to call them Hacky Sack, but that's a brand name, just like Frisbee. So the frisbee was renamed to flying disk, and hacky sack was renamed to footbag. I play freestyle footbag, which basically involves performing as many tricks as possible without dropping. So when we use the term "hacky sack", it generally refers to just kicking a bag around.

P.S.: I do juggle, but so far just with balls or bags. Juggling sticks involves a different kind of skill, which I never bothered to develop.

Bwaaaaahahaha!!:toofunny:

Dude, you're just digging it deeper, lol! I choked my vodka all over the monitor when I read that!

I used to juggle pengiuni's, some deadhead chick gave 'em to me in SanFran in exchange for a few teaspoons of me like 18 yrs ago. I traded them for a hit of mesc at a Hartford show like a year later. Fuck, that was a long time ago, fun times though. :Punk:

Anyway, does anyone have a tool for removing springs? My car should be mobile by Thurs or Fri, so no time for the rear suspension mods. I got shitty tools, but I'll bring 'em all.
I've got a tiny compressor with a 1 gal air tank. If anyone can figure out how to get A/C power and would find that useful, I'll toss it in the trunk.

RUMBLE!:chainsaw: :Poke: :hammer: :hit: :burn: :explode: :blob: :Poke:

Just kidding.
It took 15hrs. door to door from my house to Nutley N.J.
About 6 miles as the crow flies from N.Y.C.
That was in a rental truck. I'd probibly shave off an hour in the Madd Bowtie, but time off of work, to much to do here, ect.
I really would like to plan vacation around a meet next year.
I expect as many pics as fear no fish had fish in that one pic in Get to Know Ree.
If I don't see alot of pics, I'll hold my breth. Untill I have to breath again.
I hope You feel better Mr.Sag.

DR2000
09-06-03, 13:25
I'll be at FBF 100%.

Is everybody clear on the directions? You need to take exit 11S off the Belt Pkwy.

Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY 11234

Try this in map quest. It gives you several choices, but they all seem to be pointing to the right field.

If someone gets lost my number is 917 747 2967. I'll try to be there at 12.

09-06-03, 15:11
Hehehe! Got the 9C1 out of the tranny shop this morning, and went to FBF and picked up the meet permit. All is cool.
