i took this box out of my car, it's a small black, plastice box, with a cable, coming out of one end, that originally went to the throttle body bracket. i'm almost positive, this is the module for the cruise control. well my cruise control hasnt worked since ive owned the car. the cable when it comes out of the "cable jacket" was completely cut or broken off, and was never even connected to the throttle bracket. the box had a wireing harness plugged into it, which i disconnected, and a small vaccum hose connected to it. i dont know what the hose would be for. also on the side of the box it says "remanufactured". thats a tail tale sign that it was broke before. anyway, does anyone know anything more about these? how much would it cost to repacle this? 94 caprice L99

The cruise control module is on the left, driver's side, fender.
It has a wireing harness and the throttle position sensor cable connected to the back of it.
A rectangular black plastic box on top of an aluminum box. The aluminum box is bolted to the fender.
If the cable is not connected, that may be the only cause of it not working.
Sounds like You'll need a new cable either way, just get the cable and see if it works. Might get lucky.

well the box i took off, has no metal casing, its not a chevrolet/GM part. i think someone who had the car before m tried to fix it with an aftermarket part.

Incitatus, I did start that thread somewhere else. It has been in the maintnance forum for 3 days, and no one has replied to it.

I'm in the same boat.

Someone replaced the original with a round, plastic version. It's never worked, but I think that may be due to the craptastic wiring job.

They routed the speed sensor wire down the the ECU, and used one of those crappy blue splicer things

Now I gotta get down in there and 1) make sure its the right wire and b) solder and shrink wrap it.

Should be fun
