I'm coming home from work and about to get on the expressway in philly and there is a maxima, or as me and my friend like to call them "the enemy" in front of me driving like molasses. I don't know the year but it is not the latest model, but the one that came before with the altezza back lights. There is an old guy in it with white hair. So I pull up beside him at the next light and pass him before we get on the onramp cause he's driving like a freakin old lady. He must have taken offense. He's on my tail on the onramp, I'm just accelerating as usual, not even thinking of racing. I see him coming up fast so I'm like ok he asked nicely so I guess I'll have to give him the business. I step on it thinking it should be a piece of cake seeing as how he is playing catch up. The dude hawks me and damn near passes me. We're doing about 90 something before he slows. If it was not for traffic I think I may have been choking on dust. Humbling experience. I think he works at my job and I still want to race him again though from a standing start. Maybe I'll have an advantage with torque. I am in desperate need of some mods.

I had an encounter with a Maxima a week ago. The one I was racing was brand new. I'm not sure which model, but it had dual exhaust with double tips. That's all I know.

We were kind of going at it in the traffic, and he could keep up pretty well. I really wanted to test him for the pure go on a straight line. When we came to such a piece of road with no cars ahead, I just downshifted to 4th and was gone. I couldn't keep it up for more then 20 seconds, so he might've just reacted slow. By the time he passed me I was already fully on the brake, because of the cars in the lane ahead of me.

So I don't think this was conclusive at all. I'll need to find some more of them on the straight piece of road. Any idea what those things run in a 1/4 mile?

nice. ive always wanted to have a go with a max, but never had the chance. my brothers 93 caddy deville almost raced one, but it was highway catch up in traffic.

My cousin has a 01 Maxima with a stick. Pretty quick car but hard to judge because when accelerating its pretty peaceful.

I have yet to race him. I am sure it could beat a stock 9c1 and definitely a stock Crown Victoria.

I am definetly sure cause the one I raced gave me some work. I am not itchin to race the latest version, at least till I get my new engine and some mods. I think I remember their horse power at like 222hp-older version, and 255hp-for the latest versions. The power to weight ratio compared to an lt1 caprice should make for an interesting race. I think an automatic with a shift kit and plenty of torque is better than a manual with less torque in this case.

It is fun, but 3.08 are far from perfect for this set up. Can barely get it off the line in first. Need to stick some 4.10s in there, then it'll be crazy. :)

Ah, Guys?,
I've taken on a few late model Maximas, one was in deed pretty close, one I had by a length, the other was from 50 on the highway, and I thought he was going to wet himself when at 75, I floored it and she jumped gears.
I've got the L99. I can't explain it.

Really? Wow.
I guess I ran into few Maximas that had problems.
For what ever reason, my little ol' L99 seems a little faster than average, not like the 9C1, but it's not that fast.
It does have a GREAT shock value when the front end jumps up the suspension.:D
People just don't expect it from a big car.

i raced a maxima from dead stop once. that one was pretty heavily modded. and i still had my 4.10's missing.
so i had him the whole time by my quarter.
quick car indeed. they guy talked to me afterwards, said he dynoed his car up to 160 mphs.
pretty nice i should say. roll on the jap performance sedans :D
