View Full Version : Transmission Fluid
how much would it cost for me to change the transsmission fluid out in my car. it has a 4.3L V8..caprice classic. also how difficult is this?
Q: How long is a piece of string?
A: It depends
Are you going to do it yourself?
What quality of fluid are you going to use?
Are you going to flush it while you're at it?
Are you going to drain the torque converter?
My take on the matter: have a shop do it for you. It'll cost around $80.
in that case, i think i will have it done by a shop. I dont even know if my car really needs it.
it should be done every 30,000 miles or so.
The rule of thumb on something like that is:
If you don't know how long it's been since the oil (or transmission fluid) has been changed... it's time.
