Olds Intrigue startign problems...

I have a 2000 Olds Intrigue. When I turn the key over the car will not start till i tap the gas 1 or 2 times. Then it runs well. Is this a fuel filter problem or worse?

maybe it is a anti theft feature? :)
coz the intrigue in 2k came with fuel injection and it wouldnt really matter wether you pressed the gas or not when the ignition is off.
maybe it is your fuel pump?

My sisters 2000 Malibu requires extended cranking when it hasnt been started for a while. Maybe the pressure regulator leaks down naturally over time and the pump needs time to pressure up the FI system?

Clean that butterfly with some good 'sensor-safe' carb. & choke cleaner..Weak fuel pump possibly?
