Unfortunately it was snowy and icy yesterday and roads got covered with salt. The time has come to take the twoniz off and put my old 15's on. That's gona be a project tonite because I had to drive out yesterday and sprayed the wheels with WD-40 to protect the crome from salt. Lotsa soap and warm water should do the job. Then i'm gona spend 2 hours cleaning my bath tub because I only have cold water in the garage.

Which brings me to the question: is there any good products to protect the chrome on the wheels? How about Impala wheels (those aren't chrome)?

We just put on chrome wheels on LM13's car tonight, and I think this will be the first winder for my car on Impala wheels.

The best thing to do in the winter is to give them a nice bath, wax them and pack away till spring. The amaount of salt I encountered yesterdays night was rediculous. I had to drive out to Staten Island. You can spray them with WD-40 that will protect it, but you can't let salt sit on it and that very night you would have to wash them. Plus, salt that they throw is like little stones and that will get them scratched. You know, 20 inch wheels are hard to wash, especially chrome plus they are very expensive.
To wash chrome, use cold water and regular soap like Palmolive. Make sure the wheels are cold. If you gona wax them afterwards, use Mothers chrome polish. So, if LM 13 want to keep his wheels from pitting and peeling, either spary them with wd 40 and wash them every day or put them away for the season.
As far as stock Impala wheels go you are ok. You can allways rebuff them yrself after winter.
Ill post pics tomorrow from this job, and some recent pics I took.

IN THE LONG ISLAND SS IMPALA TEAM MOST OF THE MEMBERS PUT THERE CAR AWAY FOR THE WINTER. I KNOW IT MAYBE MORE TO PROTECT THE THE UNDER CARAGE OF THE CAR BUT NO METAL IS SAFE FROM THE SALT.

Yeah, and the amout of salt is really redicilous.

It seems that they dumped twise as much inches of salt as there was snow.

15 x 10 on the rear, 15 x 8 on the front. Center Line Fluted Start or something.

255/60/15 on the front and 305/50/15 on the rear. Look here for pics: http://forum.4adrive.com/t192-s.html

I remember trying to get chains for my car about 3 years ago, and they are no where to be found in local stores. Apparently they are illegal in NY.

just search for snow chains
but its easy to make your own, just get some chain, some connectors like they use on the machines in the gym and put it together

Look how its made, peace of cake.
