View Full Version : Low Washer Fluid Light Won't shut off!
argh... since I bought my 9C1 the low washer fluid light has been on... it's obviously full... I've reset the PCM... I've changed the sensor in the reservoir... I've visually checked the wiring... I've also driven around with it unplugged and plugged in... no difference whatsoever. Anyone have experience with this?
Maybe faulty dashboard cluster? Bulb shorting out somewhere? If all else fails, just remove the bulb:)

Bang it with a hammer.
:toofunny:
Just kidding, nothing helpful to say.
I think a "Bulb shorting out somewhere" is going to be your problem.
It sounds like it's catching a ground from something it shouldn't.
Ordinarily I wouldn't ever tell anyone to remove fault light bulbs...
but, you can figure out when your washer fluid gets low without a light.
Too bad it'a pain in the @$$ to get to.
nm, it worked after I switched the sensor *and* used the fluid :D
muahhahaha, mine does the same thing.
but my temp gage on the top left had side likes to bounce back and forth, its a dummy gauge anyway right?
my oil pressure guage reads almost no pressure...
I also have that problem. my oil pressure guage sits at less then 1/4, just above red during idle and just below half when im driving it.
Is this normal?
Yeah, it usually goes up when the RPMS go up, but as far as I remember only 9C1s got a real sensor in there, and the rest (including Impalas) got a dummy gauge.
This is the normal stock oil pump pressure. As long as the pressure increases with the rpms, it is fine.
The relatively low oil pressure is the reason why some modified lt1 (cams, superchargers) are loosing bearings shortly. I went with a higher volume/pressure melling oil pump during the cam swap.
I have a 9c1 so thats a relief, I guess i was just a bit nervous as im used to driving cars with fake oil pressure guages.
So on the stock oil pressure guage in the 9c1 does each line represent 25 psi or something? While im on this topic what general technical manual would ya'll recommend picking up for a 95 9c1 caprice so I can find this kinda stuff out without bugging people. Ive been told the chilton manuals are pretty good...:freak:
the stock oil pressure gauge is crap, and never very reliable, especially with age... mine sits just a TAD above the red when idling and warm... when cruising it will sit at about half, but will actually flutter REALLY quickly back and forth... my buddy's 9C1 does exactly the same thing. Far as I'm concerned, it tells me I have pressure, that's good enough for now.
Is the "real" 9C1 oil pressure sensor a straight swap? I am fortunate enough to have the idiot version.

from a few that ive asked, the Factory Service Manual is the most thorough and helpful, but i picked up a $15.00 Haynes from pepboys this week, just to hold me over till i can afford the $100+ manuals.

My oil gauge works well.
I asked the guy who works on the ambulances to see if the gauges were accurate when I first got the car.
He did, said that they were all working "pretty damn good".
He hooked up his own test gauges to campare.
The washer fluid light kept staying on for a wile, I disconnected it, sprayed some electrical connection cleaner on the connectors.
Works fine now.
