View Full Version : Change Oil light
On Friday my Change Oil light came on and I changed the oil Sunday and the light is still on. Does anyone know why?
You have to reset it every time you change the oil.
Turn your key into the ignition position (but don't start the car), and press on the gas 3 times rapidly. The light should flash a couple of times and go off.
Also in a 94 you can check your fuse panel. There might be a yellow button there which you have to press instead of doing that whole procedure with gas pedal.
I found that button on the fuse panell and it did not work is there some special way the key is supposed to be or something like that.

dont worry about it, you changed the oil, and it will be fine, its just an idiot light...my check engine light comes on sometimes..whenever it feels like it. i think some of those things have minds of their own.
Yeah, change oil is just an reminder. Try the gas procedure that I told you about. It might work.
On the other hand check engine light doesn't come on without a reason... :hit:
I got the light off just had to hold the button till it went off. Thanks for the help.
The change oil light is just a reminder. It's stored in the PCM and is programed to come on automaticly around every 6 months or so. If it happens just turn the key to RUN, the position right before START, and hold the change oil button until it goes out. Gaurantied it will happen again in about 6 months, not to worry though. :D
Yeah it had me worried because I was in between oil change apointments. when I checked my oild it was very low. I know I need a tune up badly so I was really getting worried about it. I am going to pick up some MSD 8.5mm and some autolite Platinums this weekend and hopefully my baby will be running strong again.
