1995 LT1 in a 69 camaro
ran great for 1 year, suddenly started acting like it was running out of gas. Replaced old gas tank with fuel cell.
checked fuel pressure and it stays constant and does just like it is suppose to do.
Car would idle fine while in garage, when you take it out and run for about 10 mins or about 5 0r 6 miles started popping and back firing and would not re start, let set and cool off would start and run for about 1/2 mile then shut down and not restart.
Changed distributor and rotor, also water pump while we were in there.
Car started fine and idled for about 2 mins then started sputtering and backfired then wouldn't restart. you can sometimes hold the gas wide open like in a flooded mode and it acts like it wants to start but will never start. PLEASE HELP

Your proublem sounds just like the dreaded Opti spark. You said you replaced the cap and rotor. Did you do a convertion on the car or are you talking about the opti spark? And if you still have the Opti did you replace the whole thing? Did you get any water on it when changing the pump? because that could kill your
Oti on contact.

Possibly a fuel filter problem, either installed backwards or just the wrong filter..Watch those old fuel lines.
Old rubber lines could collapse from the inside while they appear to be in good shape on the outside.. Old metal lines too close to the exhaust ,thus in a hard to believe way, boiling your fuel inside the line..Worth a look! Check that timing.. :)
