I Guess that BMW has nothing on those 410, a 410 is a top end gear isn't it, for maybe say 110mph, - 130mph, right?

4.10 is a racing gear. 3.08 would be a nice highway rear end. At 80mph, the 4.10 will be running a lot higher rpms than the 3.08.
Correspondingly, the 4.10 will put the torque down a lot better than the 3.08, and give you a quicker car. For a real life, daily driver, you'd want to get a rear end ratio that is economic and fun to drive, thus the common gears are 3.55 (ford), 3.73 (gm) and 3.23 (chrysler) for the sporty/performance cars. 3.08 is probably about average for a 4 door luxury car (the impala ss for example).

4.10s are excellent with a t56

Some people even go with 4.56 with T56, but looks like 4.10s are optimal. I on the other hand will be stuck with 3.08's for some time. When I think how much T56 conversion cost me, I, myself, get scared...

 i just found out that i got 2.56's back there. that sure explains alot. anyone know what kinda gears would be good for the wagon (its already a gas gobbler).

That GM8 seems to be fairly popular in wagons. If something from the GU series is compatible I'd say go with the GU5 (3.23). It seems to be popular in sedans
(and they typically come with the G80/posi option).

And although I doubt it would work, a 3.36 is available (GV4)

If you have to go back with something in the GM series, a GM3 wouldn't be too bad -it's a 3.45.

Now that I think about it, a GM3 might be your best bet. Now, finding one...

Now, finding one...
yea the search always sucks, but it makes it all worth while when(/if) you find it. now begins the thrill  of the hunt.

3.43's should be good for your wegan, considering the fact that it is heavier then the sedans. you could go with 3.73's, but it might be a little high.

Does anyone know how compatible a GU5/6 (3.23/3.42) or a GT4 (3.73) is with his GM8?

Do they have the same width?
