View Full Version : why even try
so i was talking to my freinds the other day about our cars, when one of them mentioned that he could burn all of us. He has a nwish Saturn with a strait four engine. My other two friends have Caprices('90 and '95), both V8's. And i have a V6 Olds Eighty-Eight('93). The kid with the Saturn says he'll win be cause his car "is lighter".
So sometime this up coming weekend were gonna see what happens. Now, i realize that i will probly lose to the Caprices, but i relish in the fact that i will still kick his ass.
...wanted to put a nifty diagram, but it didn't work out, sorry...
I think The Beach Boys had some lyrics like that:
"When someone comes up you know I don't even try..."
(or something to that effect)
I wish I were in you shoes. I'd race Mr. Saturn, but I'd leave it in second,
pretend like he was beating me -pulling up even with him a couple of times
then backing off- then when he started grinning I'd put in it drive and floor it.
Like a cat with a lizard...
(I had to trade in my '95 Impala SS for a new Saturn. ...and YES it did suck!)
Im thinking saturn race him then tell us.
yeah, ill keep you guys updated, ithink were gonna race some time this weekend...:D

That is TOO funny!! A buddy of mine has a 2002 SL? Saturn with the v-6. He thought that his car was pretty "zippy", then he got a taste of LT1! It's all because of the *#@! that the Saturn dealerships are spouting. My buddy's all proud because his car has "crumple zones"-yeah?!-so does an empty beer can.;) After beating him with the Caprice Classic, he said that he'd gladly race me again. Only this time he'd be on his '01 Honda Valkyre. I said fine-as long as we're each carrying 5 passengers.:D
Just remember that he's a friend, and try not to hurt him too bad!:damnevil: :damnevil: :xeyes:
I do like the idea of stringing him along and then flying by him! Of course, if you get the timing wrong, he can say that he held you off and that you only passed him when he let off:er:
Yeah... what my would-be diagram was supposed to illustrate is that 10 seconds into the race:
1. The '95 Caprice (assuming it's LT1) would be far beyond the horizon.
2. '90 Caprice would be trailing behind, also far a head of the other two cars.
3. The olds is not a fast car. It'll surely beat the Saturn, but not as dramatically.
4. The "straight four" Saturn is the car that stops accelerating when you take four passengers and turn on the AC. Keeping that in mind, that should be one of the terms of the race:)
yeah, my car ain't great, but it aint bad either. its acceleration is pretty good actually, but that saturn sucks.
and im hoping to get a caprise sometime, but im poor right now:(
This is the Impala I traded for the Saturn...
(Damn, I miss that thing)
here's the results
'95 and '90 caprices in a close race, with the '90 just pulling out at the end. Me about a 1 and 1/2 lengths behind them, and the Saturn about 2 lengths behind me.
So you were pretty close behind Sag. I think the '90 needs some work on it so that may have been the difference.

Did Saturan boy really think he had a chance?
Following his logic, my Dad has a garden tractor thats alot lighter than a vette.......
BTW I'man, Your bussiness but,You traded that piece of Beautifullness for a saturan??
Dude, sorry to hear that.
I know, Capriceman.
It was my theory that less financial burden would help things on the domestic front.
If I would have known the *ahem* was going to leave anyway...
...and if a bullfrog had wings he wouldn't bump his @ss everytime he tried to fly.
If, If, If...
It turned out ok, I guess.
I got this car, not nearly as fancy or as fast, but $12,000 cheaper
(literally- 1995 Impala SS= $16,000/ 1996 Caprice Classic= $4,000.)
Hey man, is that you? :) How come you didn't post a pic of yourself when we were having that thread? :)
I guess I didn't see it...
Yep, that's me... about 3 days after I brought her back from Philly.
