View Full Version : fuel filter change?
k guys I'm changing the fuel filter on Friday.... whereabouts is it underneath, and where is the purge valve for the fuel system? Thanks
The fuel system purge valve must be specific to LT1's.
I had one on my Impala but don't have one on my L99.
As near as I can remember, the purge valve (bleeder screw) is under homeplate, back towards the firewall.
Be sure and wear safety glasses -goggles if you've got them- when you disconnect the fuel lines to the filter. Even after I bled off the pressure on my Impala it still sprayed fuel all over me (gasoline is particularly painful when applied directly to the eyes).
I recently changed the fuel filter on my L99 -no big deal...
As far as where the filter is, it's bolted to the frame rail just ahead of the rear tire. Unbolt it first, slide the bracket down the line, then deal with the fuel lines.
ya thanks just finished it... I remembered you just have to pull the gas cap, don't hafta bleed the system. trickled a bit of gas out.

I know it's a little late, but I have a fuel bleeder valve on my L99.
It's in the line about where the middle of home plate would be, back toward the fire wall.
If you take the cap off, it looks just like a valve stem from a tire.
The top even has threads.
cool, but no problem, the swap went fine. That and the o2 sensor appears to have solved my continuing problem, it hasn't stumbled once now in two days of long-term driving. Now I can start having fun with it :D
