I just found this pic (attached) with a cool bumper instead of a stock one installed. Looks like it is a stillen bumper.

The thing looks great, but I think I heard that it is attached by being glued on, which doesn't sound too good. Does any one know how much those are going for, how hard it is to install one?

Also does the bumper provide for the fog light install, or you need to create additional brackets of some kind? Looks really nice.

Also looks like the bumper doesn't provide a bracket for the plates, and I need to have a front plate.

I don't know, this is just my assumption, but this thing just looks like a piece of plastic that goes over your stock bumber (explaining why you would attach it using glue). Consequently, you would use your stock license plate holder, only you have to attach it after the new bumper thingie is on. You would definitelly need some sort of brackets for the fog lights, and my thought is that they would be included with the fog lights rather than the bumper. Also, this bumper seems to extend lower than the stock one, so you will probably have to do something similar to the entire perimeter of the car, or else it'll look awkward.

This bumper is better installed on the rear. That way when you're hit from behind, it flies ten feet into the air and you can claim max liability. Not like the usuall Caprice bumper which is hard to damage.

explaining why you would attach it using glue

Ok, that was an assumption on my part, and not a fact. As you can see I asked that to be confirmed if it is so. It might be false.

you would use your stock license plate holder, only you have to attach it after the new bumper thingie is on

Since the "new thingie" has a totally different shape, the stock bracket is not going to fit. That might explain why the car on the pic has a plate screwed right to the new bumper.

would definitelly need some sort of brackets for the fog lights, and my thought is that they would be included with the fog lights rather than the bumper.

I'll need brakets? No shit. :) Why would brakets come with fog lights? Each car is different, and has holes in different places. So it's really doubtfull that brakets will be included with fog lights. If you remember (probably not) we did need to make custom brackets for fog lights I currently have on the car. Since bumper is actually made for this specific cars, and has openings for fog lights, it only makes sence that they provide some means of mounting them too.

So can anyone answer the questions without making any weird guesses?

Hey guys i am a proud owner of the car on picture above :) . This bumper is made by STILLEN, and is a REPLACEMENT bumper not a glue on. Here is the link for more pictures

I never heard of a glue on bumper. I know that STILLEN makes 3 different bumpers for our cars. They differ by having grile and fog lights. The bumper above is the most blown off version.
I bought this bumper used and had it painted. There were already holes made for the fog lights. BAsically they just mount to the bumper it self, no vibration problem or anything like that. The new fog lights really help our stock head lights. I would dare to say that my fog lights are briter than the headlights them selves.
The front licence plate really spoiles the look of the bumper, but i have to have it just like other NY state drivers. I really need some kind of frame for it. Write now it is just slaped-on with some screws.
When i bought the bumper it came without the grille in the lower bumper section, i didn't think it was ment to be there, because there were no holes or any type of brackets to hold it there. After i installed the bumper i realised that the opening for the air dam was seaging and didn't look right, here you can see what i am talking about http://idol.union.edu/~kustovv/images/Caprice_fotos/Stillen_bumper/Viktor'sInstalledStillen.jpg
So i went ahead and constructed a grill for that aid dam. I used the same material that was used for the hood grile. Now everything is in place like it was supose to be from the beggining

Thanks for asnwering, man.

The car looks great. The fact the fog lights are that strong is nice too. I have black covers on my head lights, and they don't produce much light. My current fog lights aren't that strong either.

How much did you pay for the bumper? Or better yet, do you know how much do they cost new, because there is a little chance of finding a used one.

that bumper is awsome, i saw it on a 91 caprice on ebay, and though damn thats a hot freaken bumper, but DR i think there might be a slight prob, i think you'll need a new bumper eveytime you get out of your garage, considering that your car is lower then mine, and i imagine that you could probably rip that thing off on the curb. maybe you could get airbags and the bumper? :D
how much is the bumper tho, coz i wouldn't mind one for myself :)
thanx

let me correct myself here
came to a conclusion without looking at the pix
sorry.
on this pic (attached) it seems that the bumper isn't really that much closer to the ground then the stock one, whats the clearance on that thing Sinij Kot?
thanx.

Well, the clearance problem may come up, however i lowered my car by 3" ! It is lower than any lowering springs set-up available for sale. I was driving with a bumper installed for almost 2 month now and scracheted it maybe once. The bumper is lower than original but not by much.
I had couple people coment that i need "the rest" of the ground effects. It does look a bit odd. The Plan is to paint the chrome side moldings, to make them more visible and to even out the look.

The bumper is available from the "STILLEN", i belive it is about 300$, but what kills you is the shipping. The total price is somwhere about 400-450. There were some group purchases going on a while back, on the impalassforum, so you can check out some prices there.
Let me warn you that there are fiberglass bumpers, and they are much worth, due to "crackability". A lot of people have complained about them. My bumper is a newer version, made out of plastic.

This bumper does not require any modyfications to the car, unlike CLIFORNIA CUSTOMS bumpers. BTW now available from STREET TRENDS, they just became official distributors.

You CAN come across the used bumper on the forum, just be patient.

and i could get the better (plastic one like yours Sinij Kot ) from stillen?
thanx

Fiberglass is brittle. Brittle = strong but to the certain point, when it breaks it just snaps. Plastic is also strong but can flex.
Ofcourse there is whole lot plastics out there, all of them have different properties.

Have you seen smashed SATURN ? Same thing happens to fiberglass bumpers. They do work thou, until you smash them.
