ok here's the thing...i just learned how to drive a 5 spd and i hate it.....so i want to convert to an automatic transmission....i called this place that is well known and has done business w/ them before...they want $500 which is wayyyyy cheap....anyhow i am most likely going to take it to IRC (Indy RaceCores) just to have it installed which isnt going to cost me anmything but i know all the guys there....what should i do??
leave the stick man!!!
you'll regret it.
as soon as i get enough money and my tranny pops......its a T56 (6 speed auto) for me. then all i need to do is learn how to drive a stick :xeyes:. im with LM on this one, keep it. but if youre gonna chuck it, sounds like you got the hook up for 500.

get someone to teach you how to powershift and such. drive it around for a week or so and you'll be fine, you'll get used to it. did you drive the auto before?
btw stay away from stopping on hills before you get the hang of it.
i guess if you know them and are local, it would be ok to let them work on your car but those guys at irc are famous for really bad customer service. i know a guy who's been waiting 4 months for them to ship a $1,300 order.
at any rate auto trannys suck. give it a chance...
I'm going to have to agree with these guys. Especially if the 5 spd is in that cavy.
Standard shift is the way to go. Personally, I'd love to have a 5spd manual transmission in my car (that, and the stroker) -Sheeeee
Besides giving it a little time, the next best advice is: stay away from stopping on hills before you get the hang of it.
Get used to that stick and you'll love it.

KEEP the manual... you will always have an advantage over an automatic. sticks are way fun..my dad has stick civic, its all stock, but man that car is no bad, its kinda fun to drive sometimes..just because it has manual transmission. also a manual is way cheaper to repair if it breaks..
