police tranny goes and cuts off

i am working on a 91 caprice the tranny came out of a police car and it seems fine but when u put in drive and push on the gas pettle itll go about 5 feet and cut off it idles and gives gas fine in park any one got any tips for me ?????

tranny fluid and lots of it, the same thing happend to my friends suburbone he evedently put the wrong fluid in his transmission, my advice would be to take off your dust cover check for any huge ass rocks or anything and change ur tranny filter and fluids
