:confused: MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.I TESTED IT THE RESULT WAS P0300 RANDOM/MUTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE DETECTED WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?BOOK ONLY GIVES CODE #. I REPLACED PLUGS 5 MNTHS AGO,WIRES TODAY.I PURCHASED CAP/ROTOR KIT BUT HAVENOT REPLACED THIS YET.IF I NEED TO REPLCE CAP/ROTOR CAN I DO THIS MYSELF? HOW? WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE BALANCER ON ENGINE TO ACCESS CAP/ROTOR? CAN THE CODE P0300 MEAN I NEED TO REPLACE THE EGR VALVE? OR CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR[CMP]? IF I DO NEED TO REPLACE THE EGR WILL I ALSO NEED TO RELACE THE EGR VALVE GASKET & THE EGR TUBE GASKET?WHERE IS THE EGR VALVE?CAN I REPLACE THIS MY SELF?HOW ?WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?ALSO HOW DO YOU TELL IF A WATER PUMP IS BAD IREPLACED MINE 6 MNTHS AGO WITH A REBUILT FROM NAPA AND IT SEEMS IM GETTING A MINUTE AMOUT OF ANTIFREEZE FROM HOLE UNDER WATER PUMP?DID I GET A BAD REBUILD OR IS THIS NORMAL?ITS NOT DRIPPING.I PUT A PAPER TOWEL UNDER PUMP AT THE HOLE AND IT HAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF LIQUID ON IT A FEW DROPS?SHOULD I STAY AWAY FROM REBUILTS AND GO WITH THE NEW PARTS? faulty wp- the car usually overheats, or the antifreeze leaks out.
egr- yes you can replace it yourself, the gasket will come with the valve when you buy one. it is located behind the engine, like right under the center vent(that defogs the windshield).
the code is probably your opti meanking your cap, you have to take off the waterpump to replace that, you can try to replace it yourself, but i wouldn't recommend that it has to go on very even, if you mess up that will be an extra 100-300 bucks out of your poket. so just have the shop do it.
P.S. sometimes when you replace the egr, you also might need to replace the egr selinoid.

waterpump, i would suggest going with an electric one.

WHER CAN I BUY GM PARTS IN CHICAGO???EGR PARTS. I CALLRD MURRAYS THE EGR IS PHILKO $85.00 AND $59.00 EA. ALSO THE SOLENOID IS PHILKO $21.99. SHUOLD I GO WITH GM OR PHILKO? I LIKE TO STICK WITH GM. ARE THE PRICES FAIR?:upset:

go with gm. call dal dals number is here (http://www.vandevere.com) it should be like 60 bucks for both. get 6 speed camaro egr if you going to replace yours
