Here is a picture of the car on Sunday morning just before going out on the track. Many people took more pics and I will post them as I get them. :) The Corvette is parked in front of my transport that I use to take my car to events and to the track.

Here is a short video from Sears Point that was shot from my in car camera last year. I didnt tape any of the testing this last weekend. I thought you might enjoy this anyway. :)

Nice video, that was one bad ass curve on the 41st second of the video. Damn, it would suck if people loose control of their car on that road track. I guess you took some kind of race driving courses, right?

The most dangerous turn in the video is from 14 to 17 seconds. I am traveling about 80 mph and turning right as the elevation drops off 10 feet or so. Many guys loose it right there if you give it too much throttle. The tail will swing out to the left, the front will drift to the right, You can then hit the wall on the right and then bounce off that wall to end up on the left hand side of the track in the grass or depending how fast they hit the first wall, they could possibly bounce off the wall on the left too.
The Hairpin that you are talking about is about a 45 to 50 mph turn and if you stay tight inside the turn and loose it early there is plenty of room to stop before hitting anything. If you loose it late then you will hit that wall on the left.
I have been running Road Courses for over 3 years now in this car. If you have a good feel for how a car runs, turns and stops... then you can do this kind of thing too. Instructors are provided at these events and beginners are very welcome to come out and safely learn how to drive on a track. The first thing you learn is Safety, Safety and Safety. The second thing you learn is driving the line of the track. Speed is the product of driving the car correctly and safely.
All you need is to have your car in great shape, a helmet and proper clothes. A good attitude and the willingness to learn, be humble and courteous. If you can do all of that, over time you will learn to drive your car and yourself to a "controlled" high speed around a professional race track too.
Any of you guys in my area are welcome to come out to see these types of events, and once you see how much fun it is, you will want to do it too. My next event is next month in SO CAL, August in So Cal and I plan on going to Texas Motor Speedway for three days at the end of September.
I will post these events and let you know of others in your area that you can check out too. :)

Happy to do it! :) I am glad you think it is interesting.. It really is a blast to do it and share it with others. :D

willingness to learn, be humble and courteous
These are qualities I'm beginning to see you possess.
A lot of guys with 'vettes (especially those as bad-ass as yours) get HUGE egos
and know-it-all attitudes.
I'm glad you don't (or at least you don't show it)
-That kind of stuff gets old quick.
It's been a pleasure to have you on the forum and read your posts...
Now, about the car. Does that convertible top ever become a hindrance?
Isn't there a removable hardtop available for it?

Thanks you for the kind words. :) I agree with you on the ego thing... I feel the same way.
The convertible top works out ok for the car, sometimes I will run the car with it up and sometimes down.. When the top is down The airflow around my helmet gets weird about 140 mph!! ;) I really have to fight the wind to keep my head from moving around too much!
Out of the factory, no hardtop is available. An aftermarket company in Canada does top work (who I have purchased from before) has them for sale. Go to www.caravaggiocorvettes.com to see the company web site. they do many neat conversions... Z06 convertible, Z06 targa, speedster, Grand Sport C5, Complete custom interiors... IMO, they have some of the best setups for custom interiors and exteriors.

Thanks!! I have not posted an update here for quite a while now... I am having a new LS6 Blower motor installed right now. I will run the same HP as before but now I am hoping to pick up more torque with a new cam. I will let you all know how it works out. I should have the car back in a few weeks. :)
vetterdstr :)
Be sure and post your new numbers (track times, HP, torque, etc) when you get that thing back...

I like the "Chaparral" paint scheme on the 'Vette picture. Was that on purpose?

I like the white scheme paint job as well... driving on the street or on the track it looks very clean. :) I did pick up the car from the shop Sunday, After re-tuning the PCM the car runs great! I have to break in the new engine, but getting it on with 4 or 5 lbs of boost is a whole lot of fun. :teeth: I will post new pics of the engine as well as an MPEG file of the exhaust... IMO, it really sounds great! :xeyes:
