View Full Version : Chevy Z34 Lumina
Take a look at my new dailey driver. Most of you guys know a few months ago the Ford Thunderbird went down when I left water in the coolant system with 0 degrees weather:down:. I had to rely heavily on my Caprice and on My Monte Carlo witch took a toll on both cars. A few weaks ago while browsing through ebay I fell apon this auction. A 92 Z34:teeth: for a buy it now option of $500:ya:!!! I was like 'HELL NO' something most be wrong. I bid the $500, e mailed the guy, met up with him a few days later, went for a test drive, and was soo imprest I gave him the $500 dollars right then and there. THE Z34 ON E BAY THAT I WON! (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6157&item=2406941828)
I don't understand... why was the price so low? I would kill to find a buy like that.
hey that is a really nice find Ree. does it have high milage? either way for 500, it is a good deal if its running. is it a V6, whats the HP on that thing.
Horsepower: 210 bhp @ 5200 RPM
Torque: 215 ft/lbs @ 4000 RPM
Fuel Economy (city/highway) : 19/28 mpg
I t runs in the mid 15's. With basic bolt ons I can get it to run in the low 14's high 13's. My best bet is to get a turbo If I'm trying to race. I brought the car with about 120k miles on it. It runs great with the exception of the brakes. I'll be replacing them soon.
210@215....thats damn good for a 92 lumina, i had no idea.
:verysad: now i want one.

Yeah it has balls but its a foward wheel drive car. When I mash the gas the steering wheel swirves a little like the tail end of our cars

My cousin just bought a 1991 Chevy Lumina Euro-Edition with a 3.1L Port Fuel Injection. He can't drive that thing. he is 17 and the rev-limiter always hits 4-5RPM's, that is when his 'Jeff Gordon' part of him comes out. it is red, the hood has a tine dent in the front point of it. the grill is PLASTIC lol! only made of 4 louvers (spell error I think). he wants euro lights and I told him "good luck kid" in a bronx way. he wants the, well what he calls the "old Mustang rear glass grille" or rear louvars, lol. so when I showed him this he said "I want it like that" and I told him "sell yours and buy a new Z34 like this guy" he believed me, but he just wants to customize the car now. so Ree9c1, you gave my cousin a car boost, he loves Lumina's, lol

Oh, and I forgot one thing. His miles on the car he has is 188,096 miles. that is a little bit after the cars I've seen made in that year (in 1991).

And you'll be replacing them often! You'll soon see how hard on brakes this car is...

it looks nice ree and for 500$ it looks ALOT nicer!
When I bought my second Caprice, the guy also had a Lumina out there. It was a white sedan, with 55K on it. I think it was a '94 or '93. I got in it. It was nice. I think he was asking 1800 for it, but I picked the caprice instead..Anyway. .Ree, for 500 bucks that is a DAMN good car...the condition looks imaculate.. BTW, is Lumina the same as a Grand Prix??
I think im in love!! Look at this sexy thing.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6157&item=2435907408

doesn't that car have a smooth ride, or does the Z34 have a different susp. setup? and that one on Ebay is the same color as my cousin's Lumina

gotta love torque steer
Nice find and great deal !!! My Muscle Car Chronicle book
has the Lumina Z34 in it.The artical ses ( Chevy served up a
Z-34 coupe for '92,based on the FWD Lumina.Included was
a 210 hp twin cam V6.Car and Driver wheeled one to a 15.58
quarter.The '92 Z-34 started at $17,500.)
Very nice looking car!!
Looks like a great deal. I've had a Lumina, Monte Carlo, Cuttlass
and two GPs in that size body and really enjoyed them all. The size is big enough but very convenient for getting around. The only trouble I had with them was the alternator had to be replaced on all of them except the '98 GP I have now. Always between 60 & 70K. The front cradle has to be dropped on some of the 3.4's to change the alternator.

wow is this thread old...anyways, ree, 1 year later hows it holden up?
I drove it to the L.I.S.S.T meet. it has a few suspension issues in the front but all is well. (knock on wood) These damn NYC pot holes put a hurting on the front end. I'm going to call up Dal and see if he has a problem solver kit like the one Moog sells? Its just a few arms and bushing I'll need to replace. By the way my child's mother put 20K miles in one year on this car and its still runs great. She moved to Connecticut and was driving back and forth to see me over the weak ends. Well worht the $500 dollars I paid for :D
I happen to have a Superchips eprom for the Z-34 if you're interested. I used to own a '93. It was a great car except for the ****ing alternator! $50+shipping. Let me know.
Mike
