hmm
i don't know
i think it depends on the 91-2 you'll be putting the engine in.
i think if it was an ex cop car with the 350 L05, it could be done without changine the tranny.
but i am not sure it is a pure guess :)
also i don't know if the 91-2 came with the 4L60e trannies, if they did i would be pretty sure that you wouldn't have to change it.

You can swap the LO3 or the LO5 with LT-1. Those Caprices came with 700r4 lockup trannys so you shouldnt have any problems in that area. The rear differential is 3.08 which is the same as stock Impalas have. You will need to worry about cooling of your car. LO3 and LO5 engines have mechanical fans driven by the pulley. 94 and up have electrical. If you can get an LT1 longblock and FI for it all together, then you are all set. Change the computer, exaust and you are all set. LO3 and LO5 have 2 engine pipes going into one pipe and then cat. LT-1 you will need true dual exaust. One thing im not sure about is the gauge cluster. But thats like minor stuff.
Back almost 2 years ago I wanted to swap my LO3 with an LT-1 and did lota research. I desided to swap it with LO5 and get an LT1 caprice later cuz i didnt want all the hassle. If you take your LO5 and change heads, camshaft and intake you'll be looking at around 300 horses and 350+ torque and less hassle. As long as you have a 350 engine, you can upgrade some components and you 'll have a nice strong ride. You have to deside if you really care wether you have an LT-1 pumping 260+ horses or LO5 doing same thing?
