View Full Version : Whats The Best Type Of Speakers
WELL OK I CALLED DUDE FROM PHILLY (RICK) ABOUT CHEVY AND I PLAN ON GOIN OUT THERE REAL SOON TO GET ONE MAYBE BY THE MIDDLE OF MARCH. BUT NOW I MOVE TO THE NEXT PROBLEM, SEE I CURRENTLY OWN A TOYOTA CAMRY 93. AND I HAVE A NICE CD PLAYER AS WELL AS A PLANET AUDIO AMP WITH TWO 15'S BY KICKER COMP. WHAT TYPE OF SPEAKER HIT THE HARDEST IN A CHEVY CAPRICE TRUNK, WHATS THE BEST AMP BOX AND SPEAKERS TO GET. HOLLA BACK IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.
Heh, my guess would be the bigger the better. :)
I used to have 2 round bazooka style woofers with 12"s in them I think. They hit pretty well, but I wasn't very happy. What I want to do is to build a box with enclosure taking up all of the space under the rear deck. I'll probably use a sealed box, since I want the base to be fast and tight, since I mostly listen to trance/house (techno) kind of music. As far as I understand - ported - good for boomy bass like in rap, sealed - good for tight response like in techno.
Am I getting this right?
Where can I get that box custom built?
Alot of my friends are really into large sterios and i've picked up a few things. Its not about the amps and subs as much as it is about the install. A good box is worth its weight in gold, and don't go cheep on the wires. And with the size of the sub's, bigger isn't always better. 15's hit deeper and louder, but not often enough for most music. For a great every day sterio you would probaby want to go with 12's. 1 sub is all you really need but two just makes a more full sound. Hope i could help. if you need any more help i can find some one that can get the answer.

That's what I heard. As for the type of box, as far as I could understand, a bandpass box will give you the hardest and most precise hits, but only in a short frequency range (no good for bass guitar etc). A sealed box will give you fairly loud bass over a wide frequecy range and has a fast rolloff (precise hits, good for drums etc; I never tested that, it's just what I heard from a lot of people). A ported box will give you a louder but looser and boomier sound than a sealed box. And a freeair sub... it's weird. It's supposedly not that loud and pretty loose-sounding, but more accoustically accurate. I have no idea what that means, so u'r gonna have to see for yourself:). Oh, and I really dislike those bazookas.

Dude the first question i have is how much cash you got? That will determine how good a system you can get. My recomendation is more expensive isn't always better. Just because it cost a lot of money doesn't mean its always great. I would go with 2 jl w0 10's if you want good hard hitting bass. they are only like $100 a sub and are a very reliable and very high quality brand. Then just get a 600 watt amp and you'll have one hell of a good system. If you want louder then get some w3's they can take 1000 watts and are frequently used in competitions. But remeber this 10's will hit but not rumble as much as a 12 and a 15 is more rumble than hit and is good for deep bass.

Alright, from experience, the best are 2 12 in. Eclipse subwoofers powered by an Eclipse amp, thats what I had and I swear, u could hear me comin from atleast a block n a half away. I had a lot of compliments about the bass n my brother used to turn the bass down because he couldnt hear the lyrics.
get JL the 13's and get two if you can afford them those are the best I heard if not stick with JL and 2 12's.
yeah one of the JL W7's....in my opinion the best...if you can afford it, and your gonna need a huge amp to push it(yes it, you only need one):)
i got my sony 15, and amp at the flea market(bran new) for 200 bucks..i have to turn it down to hear the lyrics..
